DISHA: The first step towards securing patient health data in India

With a view to improve healthcare delivery and protect patient data in India, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released the draft Digital Information Security in Healthcare Act (DISHA). Once finalized and introduced as law, DISHA is set to replace the current regulatory framework for data protection with respect to digital health data.
