Tax HotlineApril 24, 2001 Indian Government proposes tax-friendly reformsThe Government of India has authorized the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP) to conduct a comprehensive study on tax compliance costs in India ("TCC"), which are believed to be particularly high in comparison to other jurisdictions. The study is the first of its kind, and is expected to be complete by September 2001. The NIPFP will suggest reforms to improve tax compliance by minimizing these costs.
