Delhi High Court’s verdict on enforceability of emergency awards in India (Amazon v Future Coupons)

SUMMARY

In Amazon vs. Future Coupons, the Delhi High Court enforced the award issued by an emergency arbitrator in accordance with the Arbitration Rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, in a Delhi-seated arbitration under Part I of the Indian Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996. This is one of the few judgments in India involving enforcement of an emergency award under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 and applying the ‘group of companies’ doctrine to bind non-signatory companies to an arbitration agreement.
