Monday, January 31, 2022

Session: 6:00 PM TO 7:00 PM (IST)

INTRODUCTION

From DNA technology to maps, social media platforms to BIS standards, Pegasus spyware to VPNs, digital payments to the ‘right-to-be-forgotten’ online, the year gone by had it all on privacy and data. On the backdrop of Data Privacy Day 2022, we discuss industry specific privacy and data protection issues in new age tech and crystal gaze at what is to come in year ahead.

  • How does the proposed GDPR-inspired data protection law radically change the way we go online? What does this mean for e-commerce and digital service platforms?

  • How are your medical and health records proposed to be digitized and linked to a unique ID assigned to you? Who can access your medical history?

  • Why is your food delivery app asking for your permission to save and secure your credit card data? Why you may need to revisit your loan / insurance premium payment mandates, or stand to lose out.

  • What goes into the making of digital maps? Why we may see more navigation services in the years to come.

  • How does your new card loaded with IoT and telecommunications facilities operate? Why data and telecom networks may require cross-border functionality to enhance your driving experience.
