Recently, Singapore International Arbitration Centre launched the 7th Edition of its rules, which take effect from 1 January 2025. With the addition of interesting new features such as streamlined procedure, preliminary determination, coordinated procedure, and emergency arbitration allowing for ex-parte reliefs, the new rules mark a significant evolution in international arbitration practices.

Nick is an experienced English law qualified solicitor-advocate specialising in international arbitration. His practice combines advisory work, acting as advocate/counsel, and sitting as arbitrator. Nick is based in London, having previously also been based in Singapore. He has 25 years’ experience advising and acting for parties including 16 years as a partner of international law firms Herbert Smith Freehills (London and Singapore) and Bird & Bird (London). Nick is a Users’ Council member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, and has sat as arbitrator on SIAC arbitrations seated in India and Singapore.

Ms. Pratibha Jain is the Head of Strategy and Group General Counsel at Everstone Group.

Everstone Group is one of Asia’s premier investment groups. It has assets of ~ US$8 billion across private equity, real estate, credit, climate impact, and venture capital.

She is an alumni of Harvard Law School, Oxford University and Delhi University. She brings with her a breadth of international and Indian experience having worked with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong, with Skadden Arps Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP in Hong Kong and Goldman Sachs in Mumbai.

She has worked on some of the most challenging projects in financial services and regulatory sector globally and in India, including, setting up of India’s largest climate impact fund, sponsored by Government of India and UK government through FCDO, representing Ministry of Finance for structuring of India’s first USD 6 billion quasi sovereign wealth fund (National Infrastructure Investment Limited NIIF) and designing USD 1.3 billion special ‘window for funding stalled affordable and middle income housing projects’ as an AIF fund, creating India’s first SME exchange.
